I should be picking up the new Skoda Enyaq tomorrow. Skoda Finance sent me some forms to fill in last night. They sent them via Scrive eSign. They required me to upload a photograph of my photo driving license, followed by a selfie, for security purposes. Unfortunately their system couldn’t match me to my driving license, probably because I’ve grown a beard. They need to upgrade their identification system. I haven’t had a problem with Apple’s face recognition system.  Airport passport control systems don’t have a problem with people growing beards.

I emailed the Skoda salesman (another David) and asked if I could just sign the forms on the day of collection. He said that I could, except it can take Skoda Finance up to six hours to process the forms. He suggested I either sign today and collect the car tomorrow, or sign tomorrow. The latter meant that I might have to return on Saturday to swap cars. As I’d already arranged insurance to swap cars over on Friday I decided to go in today. I am crossing my fingers for Skoda Finance to pull their fingers out.

In my last post I spoke about the two hour phone call to the RAC sorting out insurance and breakdown cover. While I was at Fish Brothers Skoda this morning, David told me that I get three years free breakdown cover with the car as standard. Aaargh! I’m going to have to ring the RAC again to cancel. I’ll see if I can do it online instead. I don’t think I have the bladder capacity for another phone call.

ProEV say they will install my home charger on 12th January. So it looks possible that I might not need to resort to public chargers just yet. I’m geared up with loads of public charging apps anyway, just in case.

Somebody has given Fire and Earth, the second book in the Sir Anthony Standen Adventures, another 5 star rating. That moves it from 4.3 to 4.4 which is pretty good. I’m pleased with that. Please leave reviews and ratings on Amazon, they’re so helpful, and critical to sales. If you already have, thank you!
