Today I have a few gripes. I still love driving my Skoda Enyaq EV. The electrician from ProEV arrived yesterday to fit our home charger. I felt so sorry for him as he worked in the rain. It took rather longer than expected, because he couldn’t find an earth. He asked me if we had any stakes hammered into the ground near the house. I had a look around, but couldn’t find anything. We had our power off for about two hours and I was beginning to wonder if we would have a functioning home charger or not. Thankfully he reported that it was his meter which was faulty and our earth was fine. The charger works perfectly. I used my phone to turn the air conditioning on, and have the car nice and warm when I set off shopping this morning.
I was going to buy salt for our water softener. It was my first time driving there, so the car’s navigation assistant was useful. However, a message appeared on the screen saying that new settings were available which might affect my seat settings. I was asked if I wanted to download. The options were OK or cancel. I didn’t want my seat to move while I was driving, so I selected cancel. The alert kept appearing every minute during the rest of the journey. When I arrived at my destination I patiently waited for the message to appear. When it did, I selected OK and my seat promptly shot back six inches. I’m glad I didn’t do it whilst I was driving. Come on Skoda, surely these kind of alerts should spring up when you first get into the car, not while you’re driving.
I’m still waiting for the biography of Cardinal Richelieu to arrive. I consider it an essential piece of research for the fifth book in the Sir Anthony Standen Adventures. Amazon said it would be delivered by DX Freight yesterday. It wasn’t. Amazon provided a long list of carriers to contact about my shipment, but there was no mention of DX Freight. OK, that’s the gripes out of my system for this morning. I’m still loving the car.
