I’ve just been interviewed by The Reader’s House magazine. Apparently it’s the first and only British print magazine available in over 190 countries. It’s available in Barnes & Noble, Waterstones, Blackwells, Amazon and many, many other outlets. My interview is a double page spread in issue 41. I understand that my name will be on the cover along with Rachel Van Dyken, the renowned #1 NY Times, USA Today, and WSJ Bestselling Author. I shall look forward to seeing what effect it has on sales, and will let you know.
I’ve done a few interviews. For my non-fiction book, Project Sponsorship, I was interviewed by PM Network. For my Sir Anthony Standen Adventures I’ve done several interviews. I was interviewed by NBC House of Mystery, P English Literature, Tony Riches, and The Butterfly Princess Show. It’s starting to become fun. The strange thing is that I’d expect each interview to be more of the same, but they’re not. I’m not sure that I change very much, but each interview manages to find fresh perspectives. I think The Reader’s House interview is probably my best yet.
I don’t know whether there’s going to be some sort of breakthrough interview, or not. Perhaps an accumulation of interview upon interview is the key to increasing sales. Unless I manage to make myself look a complete idiot I don’t see how an interview can hurt. So I’m open to offers. Actually, if interviews did absolutely nothing to boost sales, I think I’d still want to do them. There might be a vanity aspect to it, but a good interview makes me question my writing and my writing process. They’re educational. I learn from them. The more I do, the more I learn.
Of course I have to write too. I’m now 16,500 words into Book 5. I don’t have a title yet. It may include “favourite”, but nothing is leaping out at me yet. I’m just happy to be making good progress following the research phase. If anyone thought that Sir Anthony might be taking a bit of a backseat, and leaving it to the next generation after Called to Account, think again!
