When I got out of bed yesterday, my back went. It’s my own fault, I haven’t been doing my exercises as religiously as I should. I had severe back pain, probably around ten years ago. The timing was terrible, we were on a short break in Salamanca. It’s a wonderful city, but I couldn’t appreciate it as I could only hobble from one cafe to another, in excruciating pain. My doctor prescribed physiotherapy, which helped. However, it was the exercises that the physiotherapist gave me to do which cured me. On something like the sixth day of exercises, something seemed to click. I felt so much better and went for a bike ride.
Yesterday I did my exercises over and over. My back was really sore when I went to bed last night. When I woke up this morning it felt much better. I’ve just been for a short walk. There was some pain, but I’m definitely making progress. I just need to stick at it.
As I couldn’t do much else yesterday, I made good progress reading the biography of Marie de Medici. I’m now 41% of the way through it. I highlighted more sections yesterday than I have done in weeks. We’re now passing through 1610 and everything is becoming more relevant to the backdrop of Book 5.
I’ve trimmed my Amazon Advertising campaign to the point where I’m making more in royalties than I’m spending on the campaign. Of course I’m not selling as many books, but the cashflow has turned in the right direction. I opted into Kindle Unlimited where subscribers can read your books for free. You do get some royalties from it, but the interesting thing for me is to see the way people read. Certainly with Fire and Earth and subsequent books in the Sir Anthony Standen Adventures, people don’t seem able to put them down. Readers seem to get through the books in a day, or two at most. I’m still waiting for the email from Hollywood, but baby steps!
